Q: When and why did you start training for fighting?
ANSWER:
I started fighting as an amateur in 2015 out of curiosity, but it quickly became a passion.
Q: What ranks and titles have you held?
ANSWER:
TKO world featherweight champion and the interim lightweight champion.
Q: Do you have any heroes?
ANSWER:
My favorite fighter is Anthony “Showtime” Pettis because as his nickname is saying he always gives a great show and it’s super natural for him.
Q: What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC?
ANSWER:
It’s the biggest organization in the world; it tells I’m part of the elite and it’s a dream come true.
Q: What fight do you consider to be the key fight in your career and why?
ANSWER:
My fight with Victor Henry showed me that I can be at the very top in the bantamweight division. Changing weight class has done wonders for me and my career.
Q: Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn?
ANSWER:
I was going to go to the police academy to become a police officer before starting my pro MMA career but put that on the shelf.
Q: What was your job before you started fighting?
ANSWER:
I was doorman in a bar in my hometown and I was also giving Muay Thai privates.
Q: Specific accomplishments in amateur competition?
ANSWER:
My amateur record was 8-2 and I was an amateur champion in Canada.

Q: Is there a cause that you want to use your platform for?
ANSWER:
I would love to create more awareness for the prevention of suicide. I’ve already helped some foundations for that but would like to do even more.
Q: Beyond a championship or money, what motivates you?
ANSWER:
The liberty to spend the more time with my wife, my son and my loved ones.
