Q & A

Q: When and why did you start training for fighting?
ANSWER: A friend introduced me to it. At first, it was just something to do over the summer. I quickly realized that this is what I wanted to do.
Q: What ranks and titles have you held?
ANSWER: 2012 NJCAA Heavyweight National Champion, BJJ Brown Belt
Q: Who is your favorite fighter, and why?
ANSWER: My favorite fighter on the roster right now is Israel Adesanya because of his showmanship and high level striking
Q: Do you have any heroes?
ANSWER: My heroes outside of would be my father, not many men in my life have persevered thru more obstacles and grown stronger for those obstacles. He’s shown me what true sacrifice is and why it’s important to stay focused on whatever your goals are
Q: What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC?
ANSWER: It's recognition for what I've done, but this is just the beginning; I want the belt.
Q: What fight do you consider the key fight in your career?
ANSWER: My fight vs JDS was the first fight I won without scoring a takedown and it showed me I can be dangerous on my feet
Q: Is there a cause that you want to use your platform for?
ANSWER: A cause close to my heart is spreading awareness about speech impediments, my father, daughter and myself all have one and I enjoy educating ppl on why having one means nothing outside of making someone speak a bit slower
Q: Beyond a championship or money, what motivates you?
ANSWER: What motivates me is my legacy at this point, I’d like to make the HOF and the best way to do that is to win fights in dominant fashion.
Q: Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn?
ANSWER: I didn't earn my degree, but I went to NIU and Harper College.

ANSWER: Nightclub security

Q: Tell us about your life outside of fighting:
ANSWER: Outside of fighting I love spending time with my wife and daughter who’s 7. I enjoy traveling and creating memories with them. Some of my hobbies would include playing video games like Madden and Arc Raiders and reading. Ive always found solace in a good book and grew up reading sci-fi and fantasy novels going back to 2nd grade.
Q: What’s one thing that you want UFC fans to know about you?
ANSWER: One thing I’d like the world to know about me is a really chill humble guy, I don’t view myself as a celebrity or famous I’m just a dude who gets pad to beat up other dudes.
