Q: W
ANSWER: hen and why did you start training for fighting?I started training in 2006 after first seeing the UFC. I had always had a bit of an interest in martial arts, but when I saw real MMA, I was blown away.
Q: What ranks and titles have you held?
ANSWER: I’m the XFFC lightweight Champion. Black Belt in BJJ
Q: Who is your favorite fighter and why?
ANSWER: May favorite fighter is GSP because of the way he conducted himself as a champion, his endless search for growth and improvement, and the way he represented his country.
Q: Do you have any heroes?
ANSWER: Not really, to be honest. I’m luckily surrounded by a lot of great mentors — I have a great team, coaches and family that inspire me.
Q: What would it mean for you to fight in the UFC?
ANSWER: It would mean the world to me to fight in the UFC. It’s been a goal of mine since my first day of training.
Q: What fight do you consider to be the key fight in your career and why?
ANSWER: Probably my Contender Series fight, because without that win, none of this would have been possible.
Q: Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn?
ANSWER: I went to Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. I earned my Bachelor of Commerce.
Q: What was your job before you started fighting?
ANSWER: I was in high school when I started having amateur kickboxing and Jiu Jitsu fights, so I’ve been fighting longer than working. I’ve done everything from construction/yard laboring, to working for an insurance company, to coaching UFC fighters.
Q: Specific accomplishments in amateur competition?
ANSWER: I won WKC nationals in Canada for kickboxing when I was 17.
Q: Ranks in any martial arts styles:
ANSWER: Muay Thai Kru, BJJ black belt.
Q: Is there a cause that you want to use your platform for?
ANSWER: The memory of Sebastien Halmagean. He was a friend and the son of my striking coach Kru Alin. He passed away earlier this year while deployed serving our country with the Canadian Armed Forces.
Q: Beyond a championship or money, what motivates you?
ANSWER: I am motivated by the opportunity to pursue greatness. The knowledge that one day, as an old man, I will look back on my life knowing I chased my dreams with everything I had.

Q: Tell us about your life outside of fighting:
ANSWER: Outside of fighting, my life is quite peaceful. I live with my beautiful wife in a small, quiet town. We have a cat, and a pond I built with my dad with a bunch of fish.
